We currently offer daily drop-in visits at your property and specialize in indoor-only vaccinated rabbits. Rates begin at $40 per visit and increase based on care complexity (e.g. +$5-15 per additional animal, +$15 for every extra 15 minutes of care time). Specific care quotes will be provided after our physical meet & greet.
We are also willing to help care for a select variety of indoor-only animals with our drop-in visits. We will not care for dogs or any animals with raw- or live-fed diets, in outdoor housing, or regularly go outdoors. All animals must be current with species-appropriate vaccinations (rabbits with RHDV2, cats with rabies and FVRCP, etc.). Please inquire for details.
We do not offer house sitting or overnight services. Animals relying on our drop-in care must be healthy enough to be left alone for 12 to 24 hours between visits, or have alternative, appropriate supervision when we are not there. Time-permitting, we also offer veterinary transport and medication pickup services for $75/hour.
If you would like to board your rabbit(s) instead, please see our boarding business SS Bunny Boarding.

Our typical booking process for drop-in visits consists of the following steps:
- Inquiry: Fill out our inquiry form with your pets' current vaccination information. We will generally reach out within 24–48 hours to confirm availability and request any necessary documentation.
- Review & Meet: Once your documentation is reviewed and accepted, we will send you a service contract to fill out. After submission, we will schedule a free, in-home meet & greet (typically within 14 days) to go over your pet's care routine and ensure we are a perfect fit.
- Invoice & Schedule: Once care details are finalized, we will email you an invoice for the total balance along with a confirmation of your care schedule.
- Deposit & Confirmation: Your booking is officially reserved once a 50% deposit is paid via Venmo or Zelle. Please note that the remaining balance is due in full before the start date of our services.
Yes, we require a 50% deposit through Venmo or Zelle to confirm a service reservation.
If your plans change and you give us at least 48 hours' notice prior to your service start date, we are happy to apply your deposit to a new reservation scheduled within 90 days of the original date (subject to availability).
Our cancellation policy for pet-sitting prior to the service start date is as follows:
- More than 2 weeks’ notice: Full refund minus a processing fee of $20 or 3% of the service total (whichever is greater).
- Less than 2 weeks’ notice: 25% of the service total is charged (equivalent to 50% of your deposit).
- Less than 1 week’s notice: 50% of the service total is charged (the full deposit is non-refundable).
- Less than 48 hours’ notice: 100% of the service total is due in full and is non-refundable.
Please note: We do not provide refunds or credits if you return early and cancel any remaining scheduled visits.
New Clients: We require a minimum of 2 weeks' notice for all new client reservations. This ensures we have enough time to process your required forms, verify documentation, and complete an in-home meet & greet before services begin.
Returning Clients: If you've booked with us before, we are generally very accommodating with short-notice or urgent requests, provided we have open availability. No emergency booking fees currently apply.
Yes, all rabbits must be fully vaccinated against RHDV2 within 12 months of time of booking. Vaccinations should also be boosted appropriately as necessary before the start date of their scheduled sit.
RHDV2 has been found to be spreading in Southern California since 2020. The most recently reported RHDV2 cases in California can be seen on the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) website here for domestic rabbits and the California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) here for wild rabbits.
Vaccinations should be completed at least 14 days before our first meet and greet if they have never been vaccinated before or if it has been more than 15 months since their last dose. Rabbits should have one of the following vaccinations within the appropriate timeline:
- the single-dose Filavac vaccine (minimum 10 weeks of age)
- the single-dose Eravac vaccine (minimum 30 days of age)
- the 2-dose Medgene RHDV2 vaccine (minimum 7 weeks of age) - Proof that both doses are completed before our first meeting is required if the rabbit is using Medgene vaccines for the first time regardless of previous vaccination status and veterinary opinion. Medgene has not published any research showing a single dose as a booster for the Filavac and Eravac vaccines provides sufficient immunity. The standard vaccination schedule for new Medgene vaccinations is two doses 3 weeks apart, with only a single dose required for annual boosters thereafter. The 2nd dose must be given between 17 and 42 days (6 weeks), and the series needs to be redone if not given in a timely manner. Clients that refuse to provide evidence of both doses with an appropriate timeline as requested will be refused service. For more information on the vaccine, see this informational video hosted by the San Diego House Rabbit Society.
Rabbits that are unable to be vaccinated appropriately with valid proof (e.g. vaccination certificate, visit invoices, medical history) will not be accepted for our services. We would advise finding an alternative pet sitter or boarding service such as a veterinary clinic instead. See our manually-compiled document for a list of veterinary clinics that may currently be offering RHDV2 vaccinations. Book veterinary appointments early if you are seeking rabbit care for an upcoming trip. No exceptions.
If you have an urgent or one-time need for specialized rabbit care such as grooming (nail trims, brushing, trimming) or medical assistance (assist feeding, flushing abscesses, subcutaneous fluids, etc.), we are happy to help! We offer these mobile services within approximately a 10-mile radius of the 95117 area. Our base rate starts at $40 per visit, with specific care services billed as an additional fee. If you would like to request this care, please use our contact form and include your specific needs and location details so we can best assist you.
Note that we are not trained veterinary professionals - we only have significant amounts of hands-on experience taking care of rabbits, both healthy and special needs.
In case of medical emergency for rabbits:
Rabbits can easily suffer from GI stasis when stressed. Our procedure when a loss of appetite is detected is the following:
- Tempt the rabbit with a treat, fresh vegetables, and pellets.
- If the rabbit does not voluntarily eat anything, display significant energy, or defecate in the next 30 minutes since detection, we will dose with simethicone, warm up the rabbit if lethargic, and apply gentle abdominal massage if no blockage is detected.
- If the rabbit shows signs of dehydration, we will orally syringe fluids for support.
- We may assist feed recovery food if no blockage is detected.
- If no significant progress is displayed in over four hours after we first noticed the loss of appetite or we see other significant signs of deteriorating health, we will take the rabbit to the nearest rabbit-savvy emergency veterinarian and proceed accordingly.
Our preferred rabbit veterinary facilities for emergencies depending on condition and time of day include the following:
- Exotic Pet Clinic of Santa Cruz (Scotts Valley): $175+ emergency exam fee
- Happy Valley Pet Hospital (Campbell): $157+ urgent care exam fee
- Veterinary Emergency Group (San Jose): $170+ emergency exam fee
We will always attempt to reach you or your emergency contacts if any issues arise with your rabbit so that we can work on a solution together. In the case that you are unreachable, we will continue to proceed with veterinarian treatment as appropriate. You will be financially responsible for all veterinarian treatment costs incurred during your rabbit's sit.
Generally, we will ask the veterinarian for an assessment and treatment plan for your rabbit(s). If further or ongoing treatment is required, the veterinarian will inform you of this. After this initial treatment, if you choose to take your rabbit(s) to your preferred veterinarian, you will need to organize this entirely yourself. If our schedule accommodates, we may assist with additional veterinary transport to and from and appointment wait times for $75/hr.
We will always take your rabbit(s) to the veterinarian of our choice first without question or dispute.
